Obituary of Elsia Tomlin Whitehead

Mrs. Elsia Tomlin Whitehead, 85, of Ozark, died Wednesday, October 21, 2015, in Oakview Manor Health Care. Funeral services will be graveside 2:30 P. M. Friday, October 23, 2015, in Mount Olive Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Steve King officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
Mrs. Whitehead was born January 5, 1930, in Dale County, Alabama to the late Grady N. Tomlin and Myrtie Hines Tomlin. She was a member of Rocky Head Baptist Church. Mrs. Whitehead worked as a weaver in the textile industry, was a wonderful cook, and loved to go fishing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Huey Whitehead; one sister, Inez Fuller; and two brothers, Bill Tomlin and James Tomlin.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Tate and Charles Sasser of Columbus, Georgia, and Ree Earnest of McDonough, Georgia; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Patsy Tomlin of Warner Robins, Georgia; three grandchildren, Michelle (Rick) Sneddon of Birmingham, Alabama, Kristal (Mark) Renner of Columbus, Georgia, Chad Earnest of Locust Grove, Georgia; four great grandchildren, Kaylee Earnest and Kendall Earnest of Locust Grove, Georgia, Caroline Grace Renner and Addie Renner of Columbus, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P. O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302; or to Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, 126 Hospital Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
