SGM Ronald Dean Smith (United States Army Retired), age 62, of Daleville, died Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2009. Funeral services were held 12:00 Noon (EDST) Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery will full Military Honors, United States Army Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Smith (Smitty) was a native of Bakersfield, California and retired in Daleville after over twenty years of service in the United States Army. Survivors include one sister, Lou Anna Gann; one brother, James Smith; two sons, Ronald Smith, Jr. and William Smith; two daughters, Tamitha Smith and Jeanette Pope; one grandson; Michael Szenas; six granddaughters, Shelby Smith, Heather Smith, Mercedes Smith, Samatha Suiter, Danielle Pope, and Alison Pope.
