Obituary of Byron Joseph Kersey

Mr. Byron Joseph Kersey, age 62, of Ozark, died Sunday afternoon, November 7, 2010, in Flowers Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Thursday, November 11, 2010, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend William Hart and Reverend Harold Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. His body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Wednesday. Mr. Kersey was born February 12, 1948 in Dade City, Florida to the late Joseph Fletcher Kersey and Mary Estelle Kinard Kersey. He was a graduate of Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Florida with a Bachelor of Church Music Degree. He has served as Minister of Music in several churches in north Florida, south Alabama, and Georgia. Mr. Kersey was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ozark. He drove a school bus for Ozark City Schools for five years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Bessie Morse Kersey of Ozark; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Victor Forsman of Tallahassee, Florida, Donna and Joel Batchelor of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Ted and MaryKellie Kelley of Clanton, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Lane Forsman, Heather Forsman, Garrett Kelley, MaryColby Kelley, Madison Kelley, Jacob Batchelor, and Zach Batchelor.
