Obituary of Paul Eugene Simmons

Mr. Paul Simmons,Sr., age 69, of Ozark, died Wednesday morning, February 3, 2010, in UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, February 6, 2010, from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Aman officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. His body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Saturday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Friday evening. Mr. Simmons was born January 1, 1941 in Ozark to the late Gus and Pauline Baldwin Simmons. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1959, and worked with the United States Postal Service for 42 years in Dothan, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church; and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Christine Walding, and one brother, Dan Simmons. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jayne Payne Simmons of Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Dr. Doug Jackson of Dothan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul, Jr. and Jennifer Simmons of Bertha, Ashley and Jerri Ann Simmons of Brundidge; sister and brother-in-law, Annette and Alan Keller of Ozark; brother-in-law, Chester Walding of Pinckard; eight grandchildren, Madison, Emily, and Laura Jackson, Jesse Lee and Jake Simmons, Makayla, Cade, and Molly Simmons.
