Obituary of William Noel Andrews

Mr. William Noel Andrews, age 87, of Ozark, died Saturday morning, April 23, 2011, in Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Monday, April 25, 2011, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Harry Circle and Reverend Brian Pitts officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12:00 Noon until service time.
Mr. Andrews was born February 14, 1924 in Ozark to the late Noel Godwin Andrews and Willie Mae Gamble Andrews. He attended Ozark City Schools, Wallace College, and Auburn University. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1942 and served for four years during World War II. Following his military service, he worked with his father in the family business, Andrews Drug Store. He had helped his father in the drug store since he was twelve years old. Mr. Andrews worked with the military contractors at Fort Rucker until his retirement as a supply supervisor following twenty-seven years. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church where he was one of three who had the longest continuous membership. He was a member of the Coed/Adult Sunday School Class. He was an avid Auburn football fan, an Atlanta Braves baseball fan, enjoyed skeet shooting, hunting, and golfing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. George L. Andrews.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Vicki Avery Andrews of Ozark;
one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Joel Main of Ozark;
one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Sheila Andrews of Ozark;
one sister, Evelyn Medley of Headland;
one grandchild, Kristen Main of Ozark;
four sisters-in-law, Jeanette Reeves, Cora Hill, Beth Prince, and Marie Halcomb;
several nieces and nephews. He also leaves a special friend, his dog, Suzi.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westview Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 484, Ozark, Alabama 36361; or to Ozark Baptist Church Building Fund, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
