Mr. Gaston Larry Barron, age 58, of Ozark, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Saturday, August 25, 2012, from Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark with Reverend Jim Hill, Reverend Harry Circle, Pastor Greg Doss, and his son, Jonathan Barron officiating. Interment will follow in Southside Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Mr. Barron was born September 22, 1953 in Pike County to the late William Gaston Barron and Mattie Ree Yancey Barron. He graduated from Goshen High School in 1971. Mr. Barron met his wife, Janet, at the young age of 12 and they were married in 1976. He started his career in the grocery business with Piggly Wiggly in Troy, then worked for 20 plus years at Winn Dixie in Ozark as Meat Department Manager. He then worked as Meat Department Manager at Slocomb Marketplace until September 2010 when he retired due to his illness. Mr. Barron served on the Board of Deacons at Southside Baptist Church until 2009 and was presently serving at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church at the time of his death. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Barron. Survivors include his wife, Janet Davis Barron of Ozark; two sons, Jonathan (Amanda) Barron of Dothan, and Matthew (Ericka) Barron of Ariton; one granddaughter, Taylor Leigh-Ann Barron of Dothan; one grandson who is due soon, Matthew Layne Barron of Ariton; three brothers, Denzil (Agnes) Barron of Troy, Terry (Marie) Barron of Quinton, AL, and Cleveland (Susan) Barron of Hope Hull, AL; three special "children", Lee and Jessica (Stephen) Durden of Hartford, Brian Atkins of Ozark; his mother-in-law, Beulah Davis of Brundidge. He leaves many other family members and close friends to cherish his memory. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Community Hospice, 126 Hospital Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
