Mr. Robert Gray James, age 76, of Daleville, died Sunday morning, April 13, 2008. Mr. James was born July 25, 1931 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Eugenia Shoemaker James and James Floyd James. He served in the United States Army for 20 years during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War from the age of seventeen until his retirement as a pilot in 1968, making his home in Daleville. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Following his military retirement, Mr. James worked in Saudi Arabia for five years. He was a past member of Carmichael Masonic Lodge in Enterprise, a loving father, grandfather, and brother. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Janna James, Bobbie and Michael Rushing, all of Tallahassee, Florida; one grandson, Zachary James Rushing of Tallahassee, Florida; the Mother of his children; Sybil James of North Carolina; one sister, Ann Drake of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother, Jerry F. James of Daleville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey James. Other Survivors include one step-daughter, Debra Sue Giddens; two step-sons, Jessie O.
