Mr. Henry Patterson "Pat" Sanders, age 82, of Ozark, died Monday evening, October 25, 2010, in Dale Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 28, 2010, from Hillcrest Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Dennis Tew and Reverend Thaxton Whiddon officiating. His body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Thursday. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:30 P. M. until 6:30 P. M. Wednesday.
Mr. Sanders was born February 28, 1928, in Pike County to the late Henry David Sanders and Ela Clyde Powers Sanders. He was engaged in farming his entire life, and was rewarded as outstanding peanut farmer in Dale County for outstanding production. He also received the award for longest active farmer in Dale County. Mr. Sanders was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bennie Paul Sanders.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Emma Nell Andrews Sanders of Ozark;
one daughter, Polly Moon of Ozark;
two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry and Wanda Sanders of Ozark, Reggie Sanders of Panama City, Florida.Six grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 246 Church Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
