Mr. James H. Jernegan, age 95, of Skipperville, died Monday morning, January 23, 2012, at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, January 25, 2012, from Post Oak United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Mr. Jernegan was born February 20, 1916 in Ozark to the late James John Jernegan and Mollie Lenora Marley Jernegan. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of Post Oak United Methodist Church. Mr. Jernegan graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Agricultural Education. He taught Veterans agriculture in Geneva County, and worked with the Dale County Farmers Coop in Ozark. He then worked with California Spray Chemical Company and taught vocational agriculture at B. B. Comer High School in Sylacauga for 27 years. He has made his home in Skipperville since 1982. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Elwin Dykes Jernegan. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Mike Holmes of Sylacauga, Liz and Steve Hill of Childersburg, Alabama; one son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Alice Jernegan of Skipperville; grandchildren, Beth Holmes, Amy and Adam Jordon, Christy and Jim Taylor, Scott and Nancy Hill, Eric and Heather Hill, Jason and Yanci Jernegan, Jared and Teresa Jernegan, Justin and Shea Jernegan; one sister, Lenora Taylor of Atlanta; and eleven great grandchildren.
