Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Horn

Mr. Kenneth E. Horn, age 75, of Ozark, died Sunday afternoon, January 18, 2009, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, January 21, 2009, from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Aman and Reverend Dr. James C. Wayne officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Horn's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Wednesday. The Deacons of the Ozark Baptist Church and his Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. Mr. Horn was born October 20, 1933 in Dale County to the late William Grady Horn and Onnie Frances Grant Horn. He attended school in Ozark and served in the Army National Guard retiring with 26 years of service. He was a member of Ozark Masonic Lodge #349, receiving his 50-year pin in 2008. Mr. Horn also worked as an aircraft inspector with various maintenance contractors at Fort Rucker retiring with 41 years of service. He served with the Ozark Volunteer Fire Department and the Dale County Board of Education. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus and a member of the Co-Ed One Sunday School Class. Mr. Horn enjoyed sports and was an avid Alabama fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Horn was preceded in death by one sister, Eloise Horn Pippin; two brothers, Joe Horn and Vernon Horn; his son-in-law, Robert Hart; and one sister-in-law, Clara Horn. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Ziglar Horn of Ozark; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy and Jimmy Mills of Atlanta, Georgia, and Traci Horn Hart of Daleville; three grandchildren, Jason Mills and his wife, Kristen of Woodstock, Georgia, Jeremy Mills of Atlanta, Georgia, and Christina Hart of Daleville; one sister-in-law, Jessie Horn of Montgomery. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Ozark Baptist Church Building Fund, 282 South Union Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
