Obituary of Sam Harvey Brown

Mr. Sam Brown, age 52, of Ozark, died Wednesday evening, January 27, 2010, in Flowers Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:30 P. M. Saturday, January 30, 2010, from Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Friday evening. Mr. Brown was born December 31, 1957 in Dale County. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1975 and attended Enterprise Junior College. He served for four years in the United States Army. Mr. Brown attended Alabama Aviation School in electronics. He worked in North Carolina with Nortel Networks from 1980 through 1999, returning to Ozark in 2003. He was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Mathison Brown. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Tammy Sullivan Brown of Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Kevin Helms of Ozark; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward Chase and Stephanie Brown of Franklinton, North Carolina, and Sam Tyler Brown of Ozark; his mother and stepfather, Elaine Harris Potts and Harry Potts of Ozark; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Scott Lail of Orlando, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kay Brown of Elkins, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Hallie, Lilly, and Thomas Helms.
