Obituary of Dorothea M. Dykes

Mrs. Dorothea Maria "Dolly" Dykes, 76, of Skipperville, died Thursday morning, January 13, 2005, in Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, January 16, 2005, in Salem Baptist Church in Skipperville with Reverend Harold Peters and Reverend John W. Helton, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 5:00 until 7:00 P. M. Saturday evening. The body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Sunday. Mrs. Dykes was born September 18, 1928, in Linz, Austria, and grew up in Zell am See. She traveled with her late husband, Colbert Dykes, while he served in the United States Army for 22 years. They later retired and made their home in Skipperville, where she was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a homemaker. She has worked in a daycare, at Judy Bond Shirt Factory, and at Dykes Grocery in Skipperville. She loved music, flowers, children, and Christmas. Mrs. Dykes was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Anna and Joseph Loe, and one brother, Erich Loe. Mrs. Dykes is survived by five daughters, Alice Rice, Knoxville, Tennessee; Judy Mull and husband, Jerry, Ozark; Melissa Dasinger and husband, Max, Skipperville; Debra Tripp and husband, Cliff, Skipperville; Teresa Cavender and husband, Marvin, Ozark. She is survived by one brother and his family, Walter Loe, Zell am See, Austria. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their families; Shari Dodson and husband, James, and sons, Brendan and Bryan; Joe Rice and wife, Tonya, and daughter, Kendra; Michelle Owen and husband, Bobby, and children, Danielle and Nikki; Sheila Stroud and husband, Chris, and children, Cade and Corey; Kevin , Keith , and Michael Dasinger; Kim Goode and husband, Tim, and children, Timothy and Jordan; Kristi Nobles; Tim and Tom Tripp; Taimane and Gabriella Cavender.
