Obituary of Edward Douglas

Mr. Edward "Doug" "June Bug" "Gooney" Douglas, Jr., age 71, of Ozark, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, in UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, December 17, 2009, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Harry Circle officiating, Holman Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Mr. Douglas was born July 9, 1938 to Melissa Jane Dunnam and the late Edward Douglas. He was a native of Loxley, Alabama and lived in the northern California mountains that he loved, making his home in Ozark for the past three years. He served in the United States Navy and was a small businessman during his entire working career. He loved gold crevising, fishing, traveling and gardening. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Maebell Douglas Gordon. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Welch Douglas of Ozark; four daughters and sons-in-law, Gay and Allan Lassiter and Wynne Griffin, all of Summerdale, Alabama, Mylie Douglas and Lori Phariss both of Grass Valley, California; one step-daughter, Colleen Kelley of Fountain, Florida; one son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Lori Douglas of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one step-son, Sean Kelley of Fremont, California; his mother, Jane Calloway of Loxley, Alabama; one sister, Ann Hill of Loxley, Alabama. Seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to your favorite charity. Service Information
