Obituary of Lester W. Logan

Mr. Lester W. Logan, age 90, of Ozark, died early Saturday morning, January 22, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Monday, January 24, 2011 from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend William Hart officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M.
Mr. Logan was born November 24, 1920 to the late James Franklin Logan and Ora Agerton Logan near Rocky Head in Dale County. He grew up on the family farm, took great pleasure in that life style, and became a life long farmer. He is a World War II United States Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific Campaign including the Battle of Iwo Jima. Mr. Logan was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Logan. The many friends who visited during his final days provided great comfort and were beloved.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Merle Blackmon Logan;
two sons, Rodney Logan and his wife Celestine, Dr. Tim Logan and his fiance, Vicki Trueman;
three grandchildren, Robert Logan, Christopher Logan and his wife Brittany, and Patrick Logan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
