Obituary of Bernard H. Whitehead

Mr. Bernard Whitehead, age 86, of Ozark, died Friday, December 31, 2010, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be 3:00 P. M. Sunday, January 2, 2011, from Rocky Head Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 2:00 P. M. until service time. Mr. Whitehead was born September 10, 1924 in Dale County to the late Perry J. Whitehead and Minnie Matilda Arnette Whitehead. He was a member of Rocky Head Baptist Church. He was employed with Southland Grocery for over 20 years until his retirement. Mr. Whitehead was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elisa Tomlin Whitehead of Ozark; two daughters and one son-in-law; Octavia and Charles Sasser of Columbus, Georgia, and Marie Earnest of McDonough, Georgia; three grandchildren, Michelle Sneddon and Kristal Renner of Columbus, Georgia, Chad Earnest of Locust Grove, Georgia. Five great grandchildren also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Olive Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Verma Willoughby, P. O. Box 664, Ariton, Alabama 36311. Service Information
