Obituary of Dink M. Wynn

Mr. Dink M. Wynn, age 91, of Ozark, died Friday evening, August 1, 2008, in Wesley Manor Retirement Center in Dothan. Funeral services will be 3:30 P. M. Sunday, August 3, 2008, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 P. M. until service time. Mr. Wynn was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Mr. Wynn was born May 15, 1917 to the late James Alexander Wynn and Reda Laney Wynn. He was a native of Ariton where he graduated from Ariton High School. In February 1941 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving during Word War II in the South Pacific with the 31st Infantry Division. He was in charge of a thirty-six man rifle platoon in combat operations receiving several metals including a Bronze Star. Following his military service he worked at Fort Rucker in aircraft maintenance for seventeen years. In 1981 he retired from the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board after ten years of service. He served on the Ozark Zoning Board and Ozark Parks and Recreation Board for ten years. Mr. Wynn had a passion for sports in general, loved playing dominos, and in University of Alabama Football. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Wyoline Dykes Wynn of Ozark; one son and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Sondra Wynn of Freeport, Florida; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Judy Wright of Ozark; four grandchildren, Karen Benton and husband, Beau of Dothan, Kathy Yohn and husband, Jason of Phoenix City, Alabama, Josh Wynn of Troy, Heather Smith and husband, Larry of Ozark; one sister, Dura Newton of Wesley Manor in Dothan; one brother, Laney Wynn of Enterprise. Six great grandchildren also survive. Serving as pallbearers will be Toby Jernigan, Jared Jernigan, Justin Jernigan, Beau Benton, Jason Yohn, and Ladon Baker. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Skipperville Domino Club and his Sunday School Class at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1971 Deese Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360; Alzheimer's Resource Center, P. O.
