Obituary of Henry Gerald Sellers

Mr. Henry Gerald Sellers, age 80, of Texasville, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in Flowers Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, October 29, 2010 from Adams Chapel United Methodist Church in Clayton with Reverend Winston D. Jay and Reverend Charlie Belflower officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday evening. Mr. Sellers was born May 25, 1930 in Dale County to the late Randall and Vera Andrews Sellers. He graduated from Dale County High School and from Troy University with degrees in Physiology and History. He served in the United States Navy as a submarine navigator until his retirement as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He taught at Dale County High School and at Wallace College. Mr. Sellers also worked as a Financial Aid at the main campus of Troy University. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed collecting old trains. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Mae Allen Sellers of Clayton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Patti and Jack Metiger of California, Kathy Fann of Troy; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry Sellers of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Alan and Pam Ward of Georgiana, Alabama; one sister, Mary Esther Hornsby of New Brockton; a special sister-in-law, Retha N. Sellers of Newton; one brother-in-law, James Daughtry of Columbia, Alabama. Six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
