Mr. James Woodrow Herring, 80, of Ozark, died Monday, December 29, 2014.
A memorial service for Mr. Herring will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 5, 2014, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Harry Circle officiating.
Mr. Herring was born May 22, 1934 in Clio, Alabama to the late Lee Andrew Herring and Diana Joiner Herring. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 thru 1958. Following his military service he worked for many years as a police officer. Mr. Herring loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Therman Herring, Roscoe Herring, Auila McAllister, and Earlene Tharpe.
Survivors include five children, Dianna Wolfe (Michael) of Leavenworth, KS, Lilly Herring (Laura Urban) of Brandon, MN, Kirk Herring (Mary) of Ansbach, Germany, James Herring (Lori) of Alexandria, KY, and Kathy Loeffler (Thomas) of Dothan, AL;
and one sister, Mary Belle Tharpe of Eufaula, AL.
Eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
