Obituary of James Ollen Spivey

Mr. James Ollen Spivey, age 76, of Ozark, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Funeral services will be graveside at 11:00 A. M. Friday, May 23, 2014, in Holy Ground Cemetery in the Post Oak Community with Reverend Nelson McLeod officiating. Interment will follow with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 9:30 A. M. until time to depart for the graveside service.
Mr. Spivey was born February 26, 1938 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Franklin Otto Spivey and Mary Gladys Baldwin Spivey. Mr. Spivey worked as a Deputy with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office for many years. Later he and his wife managed the Dale County Animal Shelter until their retirement. He was a member of The First Holy Ground Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Betty Jean Simmons Spivey in 2008. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Edward H. and Eloise Spivey of Columbia, Tennessee; and one sister, Nell Odom of Albany, Georgia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
