Obituary of Andrew Phillip Koerner

Mr. Andrew P. Koerner, Jr., age 85, of Montgomery, died Monday, April 5, 2010 in John Knox Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be graveside at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Woodlawn Memory Gardens in Ozark, Alabama, with Deacon John Ross officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
Mr. Koerner was a lifelong resident of Montgomery. He was married to Claudie Webster Koerner for 25 years. She preceded him in death. He retired after 20 years with Delchamps Grocery. Mr. Koerner was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Army in the Pacific. He was a die-hard University of Alabama fan. The staff at John Knox Manor lovingly referred to him as "Mr. Alabama".
Survivors include three sons, Tommy Koerner, Billy Koerner, and Richard Koerner; and two step-daughters, Earlena and Doug Marshall of Ozark, Alabama, and Rebecca and Jim Montgomery of Phoenix, Arizona. He has seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of John Knox Manor Nursing Home and Dr. Donald A. Marshall for their loving care and genuine concern for our dad and grandfather for the past five years.
