Obituary of Joseph Warren Sketoe

Mr. Joseph Warren Sketoe, age 94, of Midland City, died Thursday evening, October 29, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Monday, November 2, 2009, from Mount Ida Methodist Church in Holmes County, Florida with Reverend Jim Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. His body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time on Monday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. Sunday afternoon. Mr. Sketoe was born September 21, 1915 in the Mabson Community to the late Doxie Pilcher Sketoe and Warren Simpson Sketoe. He retired from the United States Army following twenty-three years of service. Following his military service, Mr. Sketoe was a Game Warden at Fort Rucker and was self-employed in various ventures until his death. He attended Southside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Susie Mae Sketoe and Johnnie Mae Johns Sketoe and one son, Joe Edwin Sketoe. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Meredith and Brian Saunders of Troy; one son, Warren Sketoe of Wewahitchka, Florida; two step daughters and son-in-law, Dianna Donald, Bill and Gary Harbin all of Ozark; eleven grandchildren, West Sketoe, Angel Pitts, Taylor Saunders, Isabella Saunders, Robert Donald, Shannon Donald, Theresa Howell, Sheila Johnson, Vickie Underwood, Sandy Jean Smith, Amy Farr; a special friend, Martha Skeen of Midland City. Four great grandchildren also survive. The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice for the care that was provided. Service Information
