Obituary of Hazel Smith Wilkinson

Mrs. Hazel Smith Wilkinson, age 90, of Ozark, died Sunday, August 21, 2011, in Jacksonville, Florida. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Wednesday, August 24, 2011, from the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with Reverend Dr. Christian Eckert and Reverend Gillian Walters officiating. Interment will follow in Claybank Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Wilkinson's body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday. Mrs. Wilkinson was born November 26, 1920 in Ozark to the late Foy Jones Smith and Donnie Martin Smith. She began teaching Home Economics in 1956 in Ariton and later transferred to Carroll High School in Ozark, retiring in 1982. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Pete Hallock of Jacksonville, Florida; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Dana Wilkinson of Aldie, Virginia; four grandchildren, Beth Wilkinson, Katie Wilkinson, Fredericksburg, Virginia, Grace Wilkinson, Aldie, Virginia, and Gregory Barron and his wife, Kayla, of Panama City, Florida; one sister, Sibyl Smith Lisenby; one nephew, Ronnie Lisenby and his wife, Tanjia. Three great grandchildren also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, Building Fund, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
