Obituary of Yvonne B. Balkcom

Mrs. Yvonne Bludsworth Balkcom, age 70, of Ozark, died Friday morning, February 24, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Monday, February 27, 2012, from Faith Christian Center with Reverend Charles Littlefield, Reverend Roger Campbell, and Reverend Josh Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Monday at Faith Christian Center from 11:00 A. M. until service time.
Mrs. Balkcom was born August 1, 1941 in Dale County to the late Wallace Bludsworth and Clara Ruth Garner Bludsworth. After a lengthy battle with cancer, our beloved Mama, Granny, and sister went home to be with the Lord. Yvonne worked in various places, White Knight Mfg. Co., Judy Bond, and Sugar Creek Industries. She was retired and a stay at home Mom and babysitter to her grandchildren. They always looked forward to being with "Granny". She was an active member of Faith Christian Center, and loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart. Her desire was for all of her family to serve Him and know the joy that she experienced in her walk with Him. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Ivey Balkcom and Gerald Steven Balkcom; the father of her children, Gerald Rex Balkcom; and one sister, Sarah Nell Cook.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Canora and Enoch Sims of Ozark;
two sons and two daughters-in-law, Joey and Pam Balkcom of Gardener, Kansas, Jeremy Balkcom of Ozark, and Mara Balkcom of Ozark;six sisters, Ann and Jack Fisher, Elaine and Talmadge England, Geraldine and Ron Hill, Alice and Gary Olson, Agnes Reaves, Dale and Ron Nelson,
four brothers, Wallace and Judy Bludsworth, James and Evy Bludsworth, Tony and Debbie Bludsworth, and Terry and Merri Bludsworth;
grandchildren, Jessica and Shelby Balkcom, Joshua and Caleb Sims all of Ozark, Kelsey Balkcom and Matt Campbell of Gardner, Kansas;
Three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dothan Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Thomas W. Brown and his nurses, Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, and to Lori Holder who was a tremendous blessing and help to our family.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
