Mr. James Monroe Murphy, age 73, of Ariton, died Friday morning, January 6, 2012, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Monday, January 9, 2012 from Bethel Assembly of God Church with Reverend Jeff Downing, Reverend Kenneth Earles, and Reverend Randy Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark Directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. Mr. Murphy was born June 29, 1938 in Russell County to the late B. C. and Leola Coe Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Joyce Doster Murphy in 2010, one sister, and two brothers. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-laws, Stephanie and Carroll Hussey of Troy, Rovine Patterson and Steve Hayes of Ariton, Sherry and Michael Stephenson of Dothan, Susan and Marlin Hamm of Troy; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Rickey and Wanda Murphy of Ariton, Mickey Murphy of the Rocky Head Community, Christopher Murphy of Ariton; four brothers, Lorin Murphy of Smiths Station, Wayne Murphy of Ariton, Gerald Murphy of Brundidge, and Steve Murphy of Ariton. Twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive. Service Information
