Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Galland

Mrs. Jean Elizabeth Galland, age 74, of Sedalia, Missouri, formerly of Ozark, died Thursday, September 11, 2008. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. Mrs. Galland was born September 2, 1934 in Camden, NewJersey, the daughter of George and Ethel Borton Hughes. On November 26, 1955, she was married to Roland Joseph Galland, who preceded her in death on September 24, 1993. Mrs. Galland and her husband traveled extensively during his time in the military service, and after his retirement from active duty, the family settled in Ozark. Mrs. Galland was a department manager for Wal-Mart for many years. She enjoyed gardening and loved to "sneak" tomatoes whenever she could. She loved her cats and dogs. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. Surviving are a daughter, Lori Smither and husband Wayne, of Sedalia, Missouri; a son Roland Mark Galland and wife Alicia, of Ozark; a brother, Kenneth Hughes, of Palmyra, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Christopher Smither and his fiance Tara Marschel, Stephanie Smither, Jonathan Smither and Michael Smither, Michael and Erin Galland; two great-grandsons, Dylan and Dalton Marschel and a great-granddaughter, Olivia.
