Mrs. Mattie Jo Carroll, age 75, of Ariton, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, from Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ariton with Pastor Jeff Downing officiating. Interment will follow in Elam Baptist Church Community Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Mrs. Carroll was born February 20, 1936 in Barbour County to the late Ira and Flora Stafford Goodson. She had lived in Atlanta, Georgia, Alexander City, Alabama, Eclectic, Alabama, and Lakeland, Florida. She returned to Barbour County in 2005, where she was a member of The Bethel Assembly of God Church in Ariton. Survivors include her husband, Harris Carroll of Ariton; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Gina Whatley, Jr. of Eclectic, Alabama; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Gloria Jean Goodson of Elamville, Alabama; two grandchildren, Harold Whatley, III and Michelle Whatley; nine great grandchildren; niece, Debbie (Tommy) Dawkins of Alexandria, Alabama; and nephew, Bobby (Pam) Brazier of Atlanta, Georgia. Numerous great nieces and nephews also survive. Service Information
