Obituary of Delmas Lee Davis

Mr. Delmas Lee Davis, age 72, of Ozark, died Wednesday evening, October 28, 2009, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, October 31, 2009 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Roger Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Friday evening. Mr. Davis was born May 6, 1937 in Barbour County to the late Haygood and Cullie Hagler Davis. He grew up in Dale County where he attended school. He worked as an aircraft maintenance lead man with the aircraft maintenance contractors at Fort Rucker for forty-two years, and also owned and operated Dell's Billards in Ozark for thirty-five years. Mr. Davis was an avid sports fan, especially Alabama football. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and his special cats Cisco and Bimbo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Scott, and his brother, Hayward Davis. Survivors include his wife, Mae Davis of Ozark; four daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Mike Snell of Ozark, Deborah and Dave King of Dothan, Janie and Maurice Ward of Dothan, Sue and Rick VonGunten of Davie, Florida; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Ricky and Jackie Davis, Wilson Robertson, and Oscar Robertson all of Ozark; eleven grandchildren, Tori Davis, Kevin Snell, Brandon Snell, Natalie Altiner, Jonus King, Amanda Shelly, Sommer Wilson, Josh Robertson, Clay Robertson, Annie King, and Christopher Coleman; and a special family friend, Kay Robertson of Skipperville.
