Mr. Frank Oninski, age 76, of Newton, died Friday morning, June 13, 2008, at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, June 15, 2008, from Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Taylor and Reverend W. L. Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. His body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Saturday afternoon. Mr. Oninski was born January 20, 1932 in Wisconsin to the late William and Dora Holly Oninski. He graduated from Lacrosse-Logan High School in 1951. He served his country in various branches of the military including the Air Force and the Naval Reserve, where he received numerous distinguished awards. Mr. Oninski was a police officer in Flint, Michigan and became disabled in the line of duty. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Oninski had the honor of being "head of the household" to two large families, back to back. He will be remembered as an avid fisherman and a jokester. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Trawick Oninski of Newton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Irene Lynn Duett of Columbia, Mississippi, Sally Jo and Jesse Casey of Pensacola, Florida, Joyce Marie and Robert Nelson of Glennville, Georgia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph J. and Brenda Herndon of Otisville, Michigan, Mark Walter and Jennifer Oninski of Weatherly, Pennsylvania; step children, Alicia and Chester Morrison of Ozark, Brenda Newton of Ozark, Pam and Randy Landrum of Hartford, and Richard Trawick of Newton. Twenty-four grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren also survive. Service Information
