Obituary of James M. Bruner

Mr. James Maxwell "Max" Bruner, age 93, of Ozark died Monday, November 17, 2008, at Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, November 20, 2008 from Mabson United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Skeen officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Bruner's body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. Mr. Bruner was born November 21, 1914 in Newton to the late Jeremiah Morgan Bruner and Alie Lee Hollis Bruner. He was engaged in farming and worked with Cowikee Mills in Ozark until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Ard Bruner, one daughter, Diane Sanders, one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Tommy Furlough, one brother, Byron Bruner, one grandson, Steven Outlaw, and one great grandson, Samuel Grayson Walker. Survivors include one daughter, Nina Bowman of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Elizabeth Bruner of Ozark; one sister, Elsie Lott of Shreveport, Louisiana; one son-in-law; Jesse Bowman of Ozark; five grandchildren, Keith Bowman and wife Sylvia, Britt Bowman and wife Cleo, Burt Bruner and wife Sheenea, Lynda Walker and husband Gary, and Scott Outlaw; ten great grandchildren, Kelton Bruner, Rachael Bowman, Jerrod Bowman, Brian Bowman, Justin Bowman, Lisa Bowman, Claudia Walker, Strauss Outlaw, Ryan Outlaw, and Janel Outlaw.
