Obituary of Bertha Boswell Bland

Mrs. Bertha Boswell Bland, age 97, of Ozark, died Friday morning, December 2, 2005, at her home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, December 4, 2005, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Bill Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 P. M. Sunday until service time. Mrs. Bland was born May 31, 1908 in Hartford, Alabama to the late Bertha Elizabeth Ward Boswell and E. C. "Bud" Boswell. She attended schools in Hartford, Geneva, and Newton Baptist Institute. She and her late husband, H. L. Bland moved to Ozark in the early 1930's where she has been a faithful member of Ozark Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Bland was preceded in death by seven sisters, Lula Boswell, Gladys Boswell, Alice Boswell, Eunice Hendrix, Carrie Yarbrough, Robbie Driver, Jean Brannon, one brother, Edward Boswell, and one great nephew, Art Cullifer. Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Elizabeth Jones, Geneva, and Agnes and Arthur Cullifer, Ozark. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
