Obituary of Gene Tunney Godwin

Mr. Gene Tunney Godwin, 83, of Ozark died, January 24, 2010, in Oakview Health Care Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 6:30 P. M. Tuesday evening.
Mr. Godwin was born September 12, 1926 in Ozark to the late Elma Wright Godwin and Floyd Cecil Godwin. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and Korea, and worked as a parts manager for General Motors Detroit Diesel Engine Division in Miami, Florida for 38 years before moving to Lake Okeechobee, Florida. Following his retirement, Mr. Godwin returned to Ozark in 1992 and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3073 in Dothan. Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by his son Mark Cecil Godwin in 1996, two sisters, Janet Godwin Black and Betty Godwin Bolte and Two Brothers Earl Godwin and James Godwin.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clare Rosenthal Godwin of Ozark.
