Mr. Ervin Edward Stricklin, age 82, of Daleville died Saturday morning, June 3, 2006 in a Dothan hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Judson Waldrop and Reverend Dr. James Kilpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 P. M. Tuesday morning until service time at 2:00 P. M. Mr. Stricklin was born September 16, 1923 in Cullman, Alabama to the late Artie Taylor Stricklin and Richard F. Stricklin. Upon graduating from high school, he attended a cook and baker school in Evansville, Indiana and was awaiting further training in France when he was drafted into the United States Army. He served 29 years and retired August 31, 1971 as a Master Sergeant E8. He served in the 36th Infantry Division in France, Germany, and Austria, and in the 100th Division in Germany, the Parachute Jump School in Fort Benning, Georgia, the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the 33rd Infantry Regiment in Fort Davis, Canal Zone, Panama, the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Ranger Department at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, Presidio of Monterey Institute of Language School in California, the 91st Advisory Team in Vietnam, Fort Holabird, Maryland, Fort Hood, Texas, Headquarters U. S. Army in Hawaii Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. His medals and awards were the following; Bronze Star, Accommodation Ribbon, Gallantry Cross, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Master Parachute Badge, Qualification Badges, Gallantry Cross with Silver Star, and other awards unnamed. Mr. Stricklin was of the Protestant Faith and an inactive Master Mason. He was an avid golfer in earlier years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Wilson and one brother, John Stricklin. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Stricklin of Daleville, one son, Ronald Stricklin and his wife, Marita of Libertyville, Illinois, one daughter, Deborah Fletcher and her husband, Richard of Thousand Oaks, California, two grandsons, Robert and Jon Stricklin of Libertyville, Illinois, three sisters, Von Sutton and her husband, Willie of Cullman, Alabama, Nita Von Evans of Detroit, Michigan, and Onzelle Carden and her husband, Lester of Cullman, Alabama, two brothers, Donald Stricklin of Cullman, Alabama and Leon Stricklin of Tucson, Arizona.
