Obituary of Gladys King Rittenberg

Mrs. Gladys King Rittenberg, age 93, of Ozark, died Thursday morning, January 26, 2012, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Saturday, January 28, 2012, from Pinckard Baptist Church with Reverend Roger Stone and Reverend Tim Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Pinckard Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 9:30 A. M. until service time. Mrs. Rittenberg was born August 25, 1918 in Pinckard, Alabama to the late Lewie Frank King and Mary Alma Jernigan King. She had lived most of her adult life in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a graduate of Talladega School for The Deaf and Blind and Riley Business College. Mrs. Rittenberg had made her home in Pinckard and Ozark for the past eleven years. She was an artist and enjoyed doing porcelain and china painting for family and friends. She and her late husband were active in the church for the deaf in Birmingham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Rittenberg; one sister, Dr. Virginia S. King; and four brothers, Joe Frank King, Bobby King, James L. King, and Jansen King. Survivors include one sister, Sue Maund of Ozark; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jackie and Janice King of Wicksburg, Bill and Joann King of Newton; sister-in-law, Charlene King of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; one step-daughter, Helene Wolf of Birmingham; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Gloria Rittenberg of Columbia, South Carolina, and Jay and Barbara Rittenberg of Birmingham. Several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the omission of food. Service Information
