Mrs. Maureen Roberts Hubbard, age 87, of Ozark died Monday morning, February 5, 2007, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, February 7, 2007, from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Aman and Reverend Bill Hix officiating. Interment will follow in Skipperville Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Tuesday evening. Mrs. Hubbard was born June 5, 1919 in Skipperville, Alabama to the late LeeDora Shirah Roberts and William Floyd Roberts. She moved to Ozark in 1942 upon her marriage. She was a graduate of Dale County High School and Riley Business School in Dothan. Mrs. Hubbard worked during much of her life, but the last 22 years were spent working with farmers in the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (now called the Consolidated Farm Service Agency). Many farmers commented on her cheerful disposition, willingness to help, and knowledge of the farm programs. She was a faithful member of Ozark Baptist Church for many years. She served on various committees and taught Sunday School. She was also a longtime member of the Ozark Pilot Club. She held several leadership positions including serving as the President in 1964-1965. After her retirement in 1982, she became very interested in painting and began taking art lessons. Mrs. Hubbard became very skilled and her paintings are displayed in the homes of many of her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, David Gordon Hubbard of Auburn and a brother, LaJoie Roberts of Skipperville. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Thomas Gordon Hubbard, Sr. of Ozark, five children, Martha "Martie" Nichols and her husband, Don of Daleville, Helen Reeder and her husband, William of Troy, Thomas Gordon Hubbard, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Montgomery, George Roberts Hubbard and his wife, Monica of Auburn, and Susan Kenny and her husband, Dave of Ozark, four sisters, Eugenia Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina, Paula Willis and her husband, Rupert of Ozark, Hazel Buckner and her husband, Floyd of Enterprise, and Carol Parker and her husband, Thomas of Ozark, one sister-in-law, Grace Roberts of Ozark. Eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Skipperville Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Faye Huey, 3489 County Road 50, Ozark, Alabama 36360, or to the Ronald McDonald House, 1959 Hamilton Road, Columbus, Georgia 31904. Mrs. Hubbard's children appreciate her sisters and sister-in-law for their devotion, and also two faithful caregivers, Emily Love of Ozark and Dawn Wilkes of Daleville. The family would also like to thank Dr. Ronald Alfano, Dr. Charles Wood, all the Dale Medical Center staff, and especially the nurses of the I.C.U. and the second floor for their care and concern.
