Mr. Carroll "Tunnie" Payne, age 85, of Skipperville, died Wednesday morning, March 21, 2007, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be graveside at 11:00 A. M. Friday, March 23, 2007, at Skipperville Cemetery with Reverend Forrest Weekley officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Thursday evening. Mr. Payne was born November 23, 1921 to the late Lois Carroll Payne and Coy Payne. Mr. Payne was a native and lifelong resident of Skipperville. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was engaged in farming. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Roberts Payne of Skipperville, three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Darrell Spivey of Ozark, Patsy and Rob Hoskins of Ozark, and Pam and Anthony Danner of Ariton, two sons, David Payne and Danny Payne of Skipperville, five grandchildren, Steven Stubbs and his wife, Laura, Elizabeth Foist and her husband, Shawn, Tara Duke, Jed Danner, and Matthew Spivey, two great grandchildren, Arlan Duke and Brooke Foist. The family requests the omission of food. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Skipperville Cemetery Fund, C/O Mrs. Faye Huey, 3489 County Road 50, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
