Obituary of Ted B. Smith

Mr. Ted B. Smith, Sr., age 72, of the Mt. Pleasant Community of Coffee County, died Thursday morning, March 23, 2006, at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Saturday, March 25, 2006, from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Enterprise with Reverend Steve Bruce officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The Deacons of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Mr. Smith's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Church from 12:30 P. M. Saturday until service time. Mr. Smith was born September 15, 1933 in the Mt. Pleasant Community to the late Carrie Clifton Boyette Smith and Claudia Homer Smith. He was a 1961 graduate of Auburn University and a recipient of a Masters Degree from Troy University. Mr. Smith was employed with Auburn University Extension Service for 32 years, working in Chambers, Geneva, Crenshaw, Dale, and Pike Counties. He was a member and deacon at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Jim Smith, and his brother-in-law, Edwin Johnson. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 50 years; Mable Etheridge Smith of the Mt. Pleasant Community of Coffee County, two daughters; Joy Smith Humphrey and her husband, Bobby of Tuscaloosa, and Donna Smith Shadburn and her husband, Bill of Pike Road, one son; Ted B. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Kaye of Ozark, one sister; Betty Smith Johnson of Enterprise, one sister-in-law; Elen Smith Nordyke, nine grandchildren; Jarrod Grimshawe and his wife, Jennifer, Brandon Grimshawe, Mallory Grimshawe, Christen Grimshawe, Clair Humphrey, Robert Humphrey, III, Ted B. Smith, III, Carolanne Smith, and Alex Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Day Springs Hospice, P. O. Box 311246, Enterprise, Alabama 36331, or to Mt.
