Obituary of Jack E. Jones

Mr. Jack E. Jones, Sr., age 77, of Ariton, died Friday morning, December 21, 2007, at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, December 23, 2007, Ariton Baptist Church with Reverend Glenn Pippins and Reverend Ben Amlong officiating. Interment will follow in Ariton Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. His body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. Saturday evening. Mr. Jones was born May 11, 1930 in Ariton to the late Ruby Laney Jones and Noah Z. Jones. He, his father, and his son Ed, operated Jones Meat Market in Ariton from 1940 until closing in 2005. Mr. Jones has been a farmer and cattleman during his lifetime, a member of Ariton Masonic Lodge #171 for over 50 years, and a member of Ariton Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Clara "Tat" Gibson Jones of Ariton; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Eddie Wright of Ozark; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Lynn Jones, Dr. Jack and Brenda Jones all of Ariton; two sisters, Doris Richardson of Ariton, and Martha Simmons of Freeport, Florida; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Snellgrove and her husband Josh, Daniel Jones, Amy Kilpatrick and her husband Ross, Clint Jones, Claire Jones, Haley Liddon and her husband William, and Hays Wright; two great grandchildren, Trevor Snellgrove and Ellie Kate Kilpatrick. The family extends a special thanks to Lighthouse Hospice and his special caregivers Pat Lampley, Lula Thornton, and Lilly Sapp. Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Barefoot, Kent Phillips, Brandon Jones, Steve Marsh, Ricky Tyler, and Larry Dawkins.
