Obituary of Fannie Rae Judah

Mrs. Fannie Rae Grantham Judah, of 478 East Broad Street in Ozark, passed away on Monday afternoon, October 18, 2004, at Flowers Hospital. She was 78. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, October 21, 2004, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Asbury with Reverend Dave Rhodes and Reverend Andy Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Wednesday evening, October 20, 2004. Mrs. Judah's body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Thursday. Pallbearers will be her male grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1152 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301. Mrs. Judah is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Herman Judah and her six children, Carole Taylor and her husband, Jim (Ozark), Sandra Wilkins (Ozark), Anita Cordell and her husband, Jerry (Ozark), Beverly King and her husband, Wade (Birmingham), Ozzie Judah and his wife, Ann (Dothan), and Richard Judah and his wife Mary Ellen (Huntsville). Fannie Rae Judah and her husband, Herman, were blessed with 17 grandchildren: Knox, Lee, Alan, and Andy McMillan; Mickey, Steve, and Laurie Wilkins; Tony, Paul, and Daniel Cordell; Jason King and Amie Zanaty, and Elizabeth King; LeAnn Judah; and Preston, Grant and Maggie Judah. Great-grandmother Fannie Rae delighted in her 16 great-grandchildren: Fuller and Eden McMillan; Anna and Allie McMillan, Mary Stuart, Knox and Sara Elizabeth McMillan; Mathu and Amber Wilkins and Allison Wilkins; Nathan and Emily Rae Cordell; Brasley Zanaty, and Aiden, Taylor, and Jensen King. Mrs. Judah was born in Dothan, Alabama on May 7, 1926, and lived most of her life in the Wiregrass Area of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and James Alma (Mama Jimmy) Grantham, and two brothers, Jerome and Jimmy Grantham. Her surviving siblings are Dot Monk, Gerald (Jake) Grantham and his wife, Marie, Mary Ledbetter, Kenneth Grantham and his wife, Yvonne and Georgia Sanko. Family was the most important thing for Mrs. Judah. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews all felt the warmth of her loving care. Christmas was a magical time at Mrs. Judah's home. She expressed her childlike joy of the season with expansive decorations and special hand-made heirloom gifts for members of her family. She had a generous spirit and a loving heart. Her parting words to her children were "Y'all behave." She will be greatly missed. Service Information
