Obituary of John D. Jones

Mr. John D. Jones, age 71, of Ozark, died Thursday afternoon at his home. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P. M. Sunday, August 28, 2005 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home of Ozark with Reverend Ralph Goodwein and Reverend Don Tew officiating. Full Military Honors will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Saturday evening. Mr. Jones was a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He served in the United States Army for 22 years including two tours in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star with oak leaf clusters. Mr. Jones owned and operated J. D. Radiator Service in Ozark for 23 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Claude Summerlin and his grandson, Kristopher Jones. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Thelma Jones, Ozark, a son, John D. Jones, II and his wife, Rhonda, Newton, a son, Jerry Summerlin and his wife, Nancy, Ashville, Alabama, a daughter-in-law, Nora Summerlin, Ashville, Alabama, one sister, Deloris Goodwein and her husband, Ralph, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, one sister-in-law, Betty Gaither, Ozark, grand children, Whitney Jones, El Paso, Texas, Kaylissa Mackey, Melissa Jones, Samantha Jones, Newton, David Ray Summerlin and his wife, Donna, Ashville, Alabama, and Scott Summerlin and his wife, Jennifer, Helena, Alabama, great grandchildren, Alex, Abby, Alyssa, and Brittany Summerlin. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Paul Adams, Dr. Rafael Mayor, and Wiregrass Hospice of Ozark.
