Obituary of Aubrey Dan Hale

Mr. Aubrey Dan Hale, age 93, of Ozark, died Monday evening, May 22, 2006, in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness. Leaving a wealth of family and friends, the celebration of his extraordinary life will be held at 10:30 A. M. Thursday, May 25, 2006 from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Harry Circle officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Hale's body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. Mr. Hale was born October 5, 1912 in Bullock County, Alabama to the late Willie Mae Howard Hale and Jessie Davis Hale. He served in the United States Army during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Hale owned and operated Hale's Barber Shop in downtown Ozark for many years. He was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church where he served on many committees, was an Usher, and President of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He was active with the V. F. W. Ozark Post 4448 and a past Post Commander. He was a member of the American Legion Post 82 and a member of the Brotherhood of Masons, Masonic Lodge #349. Mr. Hale served as the Ozark Fire Chief from 1957 until 1965, and on the City of Ozark Planning Commission, serving as Chairman for the last several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Liddie Lorraine Blackmon Hale. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Ring and her husband, Keith of Abbeville, and Barbara Jackson of Ozark, two sons, Dan Hale and his wife, Joycelyn of Ozark, and Randolph Hale and his wife, Tina of Jemison, Alabama, twelve grandchildren, Kelle L. Hale (Deceased), Dan Hale II, Stan Hale, Alan Hale (Deceased), Ray Hale, Dana Womack, Jim W. Jackson, Jr., Lynn Floyd, Jay Jackson, John Jackson, Christine Corrao, and Brett Ring, twenty great grandchildren, Whitney Hale, Hannah Hale, Dustin Hale, Jermey Hale, Sara Hale, Jennifer Hale, Jason Hale, Lancinda Long, Eric Long, Trey Jackson, Hannah Jackson, Rebecca Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Caroline Jackson, Lake Jackson, John S. Jackson, Jr., Leigha Jennings, Nicole Corrao, P. J. Corrao, and Anthony Corrao, one sister, Dorothy Powers of Andalusia. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the Friendship Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
