Obituary of Samuel R. Wilkinson

Mr. Samuel R. "Sammy" Wilkinson, 56, of Blue Springs, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Thursday, April 7, 2005 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Elder Fred Averett officiating. Interment will follow in Old Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Blue Springs, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 6:00 P. M. until 7:30 P. M. Wednesday evening. Mr. Wilkinson was born April 13, 1948 in Blue Springs to the late Irene Medley Wilkinson and Cecil Ray Wilkinson. He graduated from Troy State University and was working for the State of Alabama Adolescent Center in Eufaula when he became disabled. He . He served in the United States Army from 1968 through 1971, and was awarded the Bronze Star for distinguished, outstanding, meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Survivors include one aunt, Helen Wilkinson, Ozark, eleven first cousins, Judy Scott, Bobby Parr, Winston Wilkinson, Danny Wilkinson, Alex Wilkinson, Kenneth Wilkinson, Jimmy Parr, Jacqueline Ryals, Gerald Parr, Reggie Parr, and Richard Medley. Other close relatives include Charlotte Stokes and Patricia Peal. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2961 Hwy 10, Clio, Alabama 36017.
