Obituary of Dorothy Purvis Simpson

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Purvis Simpson, age 79, of Ozark, died Friday morning, April 27, 2007, at University Medical Center in Birmingham. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, May 1, 2007, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Wayne Northey officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Monday afternoon. Mrs. Simpson was born August 26, 1927 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the late Minnie Lee Lott Purvis and Jessie Monroe Purvis. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, LTC (U.S. Army Retired) Victor Corwin Simpson in 1975. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Norman Elliott of Empire, Colorado, and Judith and Dr. Alan Conrad of Ozark, four sons and three daughters-in-law, Victor C. Simpson, Jr. of Ozark, Dr. Steven and Sharon Simpson of Florence, Alabama, Gregory and Florence Simpson of Plano, Texas, and Joel and Judy Simpson of Birmingham, two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Dolores Purvis of Tustin, California, and Kenneth and Betty Purvis of Enterprise, Mississippi. Twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Gideons International, P. O. Box 291, Ozark, Alabama 36361
