Mr. Bennett Milton "Buddy" Ezell, a resident of Ozark, passed away Monday evening, June 27, 2005, at his home following a long and courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson's. He was 78 years old. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, June 30, 2005, from Ozark Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Aman and Reverend John Frank Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. The body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Thursday. Mr. Ezell was born July 3, 1926 in Dale County to the late Clara Langford Ezell and Daniel Bennett Ezell. He graduated from Dale County High School in 1946. He worked in auto parts sales for many years and trained several young men who later became successful businessmen with stores of their own. He owned and operated Ezell Oil Company, selling Texaco products, for 24 years. He was affiliated with Dothan Clutch and Brake, Inc. until his retirement. He was a member of Ozark Baptist Church for 53 years where he served in many positions. He was a member of the Coed I Sunday School Class. He had served on the Ozark Planning Commission and was a former member of the Ozark Civitan Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dannie Wilburn Ezell. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Merle Whitman Ezell, Ozark; two daughters, Sandra Ezell, Ozark, and Susan Ezell Connor and her husband, Tim, Hampton Cove, Alabama; five grandsons, Bennett, Garrett, David, Drew, and Everett, all of Hampton Cove, Alabama; and one brother, Don Ezell and his wife, Maxine, Dothan. Three nephews also survive. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and support personnel of Wiregrass Hospice. A special thanks to Jill Carter. We would also like to thank all of the wonderful and loving nurses who cared for him in the home.
