Obituary of James Arlis Weed

Mr. Weed was a native of Dale County. He graduated from Troy State College, now Troy State University, and taught school in Brantley, Alabama for 10 years. He then served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater on the battleship New Jersey. Following his military service, Mr. Weed began his employment as a microbiologist with the State of Alabama Department of Health, working in Anniston, Alabama for 35 years until his retirement. Mr. Weed returned to his family home on Jim Weed Road where he developed a Treasured Forest, of which he was very proud. He was a member of Westview Heights United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board and was past Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was a Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award recipient Service Information
