Mrs. Lula LyvoneWatson Barnes, age 70, of the Echo Community, died Thursday morning, March 29, 2007, in Birmingham following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, April 1, 2007 from Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Her body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Barnes was born November 28, 1936 to the late Olive V. Morris Watson and Ivey Gilbert Watson in the Echo Community of Dale County. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Barnes was working with Dale Medical Center in Ozark at the time of her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hughie Barnes in 1991. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and John F. Ross, III of Echo, five grandchildren, Kirstie Leigh Ross, John F. Ross, IV, Erica Shae Ross, Savannah Lynn Ross, and Selena Nicole Ross, four sisters, Dorothy Cook of Skipperville, Margaret Corbin of Midland City, Eunice Hall of Abbeville, and Jan Mansfield of Dothan, two brothers, Heywood Watson of Echo, and Robert Watson of Ozark.
