Steve and Carol, I was so very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Your parents were icons in Daleville, and when I think back on our childhood and who was there, all of you are near and dear in my thoughts. I just wanted to tell you she was a special lady, and will be missed by many.

I am so sorry I could not attend the funeral this weekend - Jeff was able to go and brings with him my love for all of you. Mrs. Sansbury was my 1st grade teacher and is first and foremost in my memories of Daleville School! What a loving and caring person - I could not have had a better teacher! Jeff and I will always remember and think of Mrs. Sansbury on her birthday (which Jeff shares!). Our prayers are with you.

I was a first grade student of Mrs. Sansbury in 1966-1967. I couldn't have had a better teacher to begin my scholastic years. I am saddened by her passing, but I am comforted by knowing that her lessons will live on far longer than her years on this earth.

Miss Byrd was my first grade teacher at Daleville in 1939. I stumped her when I asked how to spell ____? (I made the pig sound!) I will never forget how kind she was to all of us.

I didn't know Virginia well, but I always remember a visit my mother, my aunt and I made to see George and Virginia way back in 1980. They were able to give me a good bit of information about the Sansbury family, and I always will appreciate it.
