Mr. Jack Corbitt, age 58, of Ozark, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at his home. Funeral services will be graveside at 10:00 A. M. Thursday, April 28, 2005, from Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Reverend Joe Reams, Reverend Marty Hamilton, and Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. Mr. Corbitt was a native of Panama City, Florida. He graduated from Troy State University with a BS degree, where he was one of the founding seven members of the Delta Chi social fraternity. He graduated from Sanford University's Cumberland Law School with his Jurist Prudence degree. He served as Ozark's City Judge, as a Dale County assistant District Attorney, and was serving as council for the Dale County Board of Education and Michelin North America. He was a member of the Ozark Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Corbitt was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, and was serving as President of the Sunnyside Beach Homeowners Association at Panama City Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanie McLaughlin Corbitt, in 1985. Survivors include his daughters: Maghen Corbitt Lowery and her Husband, Justin, Ozark; Holly Corbitt, Birmingham, his granddaughter: Audra Elizabeth Lowery, his special friend and companion: Delores Woodham, Ozark, his daughter's stepmother: Trita Corbitt, Ozark, his stepfather: Jerry Vinson, Troy, his sister: Elizabeth Gleaton, Tallahassee, Florida, his brother: Joe Corbitt, Lake Oswego, Oregon. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family request the omission of flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to the New Born Intensive Care Unit, UAB Hospital, 619 19th Street South, Birmingham, Alabama 35224-6973, or the First United Methodist Church, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
