Obituary of Charlie Eddie Johnson

Mr. Charlie Eddie Johnson, 57, of Ozark, died Monday evening, January 9, 2006, in a Dothan hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 A. M. Thursday, January 12, 2006, from Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Harold Peters and Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mr. Johnson's body will be placed in the Church one hour prior to service time on Thursday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. Wednesday evening. Mr. Johnson was born January 5, 1949 in Dale County to the late Jessie Elizabeth Norton Johnson and Charlie Homer Johnson. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart. Mr. Johnson was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and gardening with his family. Survivors include his wife, Betsy Heath Johnson, Ozark, three sons, Shane Johnson and his wife, Samantha, Bertha, Alabama, Derric Johnson, Chipley, Florida, and Cody Johnson, Ozark, three brothers, Glenn Johnson and his wife, Bonnie, Bobby Johnson and his wife, Margie, and Ted Johnson, all of Ozark.
