Obituary of Joseph Robert Ingram

Mr. Joseph Robert "Bob" Ingram, age 82, of Ozark, died Tuesday morning, August 14, 2007, in Dale Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday, August 17, 2007 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Russell Burleson officiating. Interment will be 3:00 P. M. Friday in Garden Hills Cemetery, Opelika, Alabama, with Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 A. M. Friday until service time at 11:00 A. M. Mr. Ingram was born March 5, 1925 in Bay Minette, Alabama to the late Margaret Kussiner Ingram and Richard Lafayette Ingram. He grew up in Montgomery and attended school there. He joined the Navy in 1943. He served as a Medic during World War II in the Navy and the Marines, and in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ingram worked with the Montgomery Advertiser, Auburn Plainsman, and Lee County Bulletin. He then worked with Civil Service at Fort Rucker as a printer until his retirement. Mr. Ingram was an avid camper and served as a Campground Host for the United States Forestry Service and as a volunteer for the National Park Service. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed golf and Auburn football. Mr. Ingram was a member of Westview Heights United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Ingram in 1968, and two sisters, Margaret Summerlin and Frances Stuckey. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jeanette Godwin Ingram of Ozark, one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph D. and Carolyn Ingram of Panama City, Florida, one sister, Barbara Ann Bohn of Warner Robins, Georgia, one brother, John Richard Ingram, three grandchildren, Jennifer Burley of San Antonio, Texas, Joseph David Ingram of Panama City, Florida, and Stephanie Ingram of Panama City, Florida, five great grandchildren, Adam, Justin, and Jeremy Burley, Brian Ingram, and Zack Wolfe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the United Methodist Children's Home, P. O. Box 830, Selma, Alabama 36702-0830, or to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 1012, Wetumpka, Alabama 26092.
