Mrs. Gladys Strickland Henry, 86, of Ozark, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 at The Cedars in Montgomery following a short illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Sunday, May 29, 2005, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Bill Hix officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at Holman Funeral Home in Ozark from 3:00 P. M. until 5:00 P. M. Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Henry was born August 26, 1918 in Franklin County, Alabama, having lived in Ozark since 1951. She taught at Dale County High School, and when Carroll High School opened she became the librarian where she remained for over 40 years until her retirement. Mrs. Henry was a member of Ozark Baptist Church since 1951. She was a charter member of the Ozark Pilot Club, receiving an attendance award for not missing a meeting in over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Henry, her daughter, Martha Henry Stewart, and one son, Charles (Chuck) Henry. Survivors include one son, James Wade Henry and his wife, Deborah, Montgomery, one daughter-in-law, Jean Henry, Lynchburg, Virginia, one son-in-law, Donald J. Stewart, Tallahassee, Florida, four grandchildren, Adam Henry, Lynchburg, Virginia, Jason Stewart, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Jonmark Henry and Wade Henry, Montgomery one great granddaughter, Rebecca Henry, Lynchburg, Virginia. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to Carroll High School Library, 455 Forrest Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360, or to the Flowers Center for the Performing Arts, C/O Ozark City Board of Education, 928 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
